Are industrial detergents suitable for baby laundry?

Are industrial detergents suitable for baby laundry?

It's no secret that baby's skin is very different from adult's skin. Brands have well understood and sometimes use it as a marketing tool.

Myth or reality ? Are detergents supposedly developed for ultra sensitive skin really safe?

It is a proven fact that in recent years, the skin of the little ones has become more and more fragile, reactive and very sensitive to external aggressions. The reason is simple, their skin is not yet mature enough to cope with attacks of all kinds. Laundry detergents on the market are made with chemicals created to remove stains, kill bacteria and leave laundry smelling clean. These are the same products that are found on the skin of our babies.
Some of these components are too aggressive and can cause irritation, itching or even allergic reactions if the laundry has not been rinsed well. As a consumer, it is sometimes difficult to navigate and make a choice. Between marketing, lengthy compositions and incomprehensible chemical formulas, which products should be avoided?

Baby laundry: the industrial trap

The most important thing when choosing your laundry is the mention β€œhypoallergenic”. This shows that the products are dermatologically tested. We also have β€œsensitive skin” detergents which are purely for marketing because without the hypoallergenic mention, it is worthless. Also beware of labels which are sometimes a source of confidence but which contain products that are harmful to your skin and the environment .
On the composition side, avoid detergents containing preservatives, benzisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone(MIT) and methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCIT). All these formulas worry dermatologists and allergists because even if they are harmless for adults, they are very aggressive for baby's skin.

The solution ?

Choose detergents made with washing agents of natural origin without perfume and avoid colored detergents because they contain chemical dyes. It is best to use the most natural solution possible without chemicals to protect the skin of our babies.
You can also use β€œOiko balls” which offers a natural and chemical-free solution for babies' skin! No lengthening chemical formulas just the action of ceramic balls to remove stains!
